On May 24th 2011, Torrance County Deputy Sheriff, Erwin Greven, received the "Real Hero Award" for his life-saving work for animals. The award was presented by the American Red Cross in New Mexico.
Throughout his career Deputy Greven has been responsible for a long list of achievements in animal welfare. On this occasion he was cited for coming to the aid of Pino, a dog found shot with an arrow in the East Mountain Area whose elderly owner lacked funds for treatment. Greven orchestrated and coordinated the efforts that provided the necessary medical care and after treatment that allowed Pino to return to his home.
Horses, cats, dogs, and indeed the entire community, benefit when animal control officers receive much needed support and training.
Animal Protection of New Mexico recognizes the hard work of dedicated officers, like Deputy Greven, and funds scholarships for their training from the National Animal Control Association. Can you join APNM and ensure a brighter future for New Mexico's animals and those who work to protect them?
Thank you for caring about animals!
