This week chimps need your help - join with individuals and organizations across the country for National Call-In Week for Chimpanzees in Laboratories.

Please take five minutes to help chimpanzees who face more lab torture!
The surviving chimpanzees of the Alamogordo Primate Facility are still waiting for their verdict – will the National Institutes of Health choose the humane, prudent path to permanently retire the chimps or force 54-year-old Flo and her colleagues once more into research? Look through Animal Protection of New Mexico’s timeline to see what chimpanzees in New Mexico have been through, and how people who raised their voices have made a difference.

If you agree that America has better things to do with tax dollars than continue to fund inhumane, ineffective invasive tests on chimpanzees, please call Congress today in support of the Great Ape Protection and Cost Savings Act. Only by speaking out together can we save the chimps from further cruel, ineffective research.

NEW MEXICANS
     • Call both your U.S. Senators:
           Senator Jeff Bingaman at 1-800-443-8658
           or 202-224-5521
                           and
           Senator Tom Udall at 202-224-6621

      • Call your one U.S. Representative:
Congressman Martin Heinrich (Congressional District 1 –
thank him for cosponsoring this bill!) at 202-225-6316
                           or
Congressman Steve Pearce (Congressional District 2)
at 855-4-PEARCE (732723) or 202-225-2365
                           or
Congressman Ben Ray Luján (Congressional District 3 –
thank him for cosponsoring this bill!) at 202-225-6190

TALKING POINTS:

• Thank you Senator ___________/Representative _____________ for everything you do for your constituents. Please cosponsor the Great Ape Protection and Cost Savings Act (S. 810/H.R. 1513)
• Chimpanzees have suffered physically and psychologically in laboratories, it is unethical to continue to use them in research
• Americans will save $300 million tax dollars over ten years when this bill passes

IF YOU LIVE OUTSIDE OF NEW MEXICO
Simply use Contacting the Congress to look up your two U.S. Senators and one U.S. Representative, you can use the same talking points to express your support for the Great Ape Protection and Cost Savings Act.

THANK YOU!
Because you all raised your voices, the Alamogordo Primate Facility chimpanzees were given a temporary reprieve. But we cannot rest until these chimps are permanently retired. Thank you for setting aside five minutes this week to raise your voice AGAIN for chimpanzees who themselves cannot call!

MEDIA HIGHLIGHTS PROBLEMS WITH CHIMPANZEE RESEARCH PROGRAM
Scientific American has editorialized to “Ban Chimp Testing” and on November 24th Nature editorialized about apparent deception and waste within the U.S. chimp research program in “Breeding Contempt.”

Remember, we elect members of Congress to represent our values in D.C. Thank you for taking a moment to make sure they hear your voice loud and clear – chimps should be retired!
