Animal Protection of New Mexico recognizes the many volunteers in this state who care about animals and domestic violence victims. APNM’s statewide CARE Network is a volunteer-based listing of safe havens---individuals, agencies and businesses that will temporarily care for a domestic violence victim’s animal(s) while he or she leaves a violent home.

These posters, along with updated brochures about the CARE Network, were distributed to law enforcement, hospitals, community centers, educational institutions, and domestic violence resource providers across the state.

For more information about the CARE Network and the link between family violence and violence to animals, please see the CARE network page.
To support the CARE Network, APNM spent many weeks developing relationships with recipients of this updated literature. Mailings were sent statewide to law enforcement, hospitals, community centers, educational institutions and domestic violence resource providers. Posters and brochures in Spanish and English detail the necessary information for a victim to safely escape from a batterer with his/her animals.
APNM worked with many skilled volunteers to develop this literature, make calls, and package the mailing. Domestic violence shelters tell us that this literature and the CARE Network are helpful to their clients. We can’t say thank you enough to everyone working to break the cycle of domestic violence in New Mexico.
A special thank you to all of our supporters, your help to continue our work is very appreciated!
