Mayor Chavez Takes a Stand for Animals
Please join Animal Protection of New Mexico and Animal Protection Voters in thanking Albuquerque Mayor Martin Chavez for his leadership in raising awareness about our continuing pet overpopulation crisis. He and his rescued canine friend, Dukes, are appearing on billboards along the highways in Albuquerque reminding citizens to "Make a Difference, Spay and Neuter," their companion animals and to promote Lucky Paws. Lucky Paws is the name of the adoption centers that are being created to attract families to adopt dogs and cats from the City's shelters. The first Lucky Paws is expected to open at the Coronado Mall in October or November of this year. Rather than the normal shelter adoption process of selecting a dog or cat and then having the shelter spay or neuter them before you take them home, these animals will already be sterilized and ready to go to their new families.
Please send Mayor Chavez an email at: mayor@cabq.gov or call his office: 505-768-3000 to commend him on his outstanding actions to help animals and thank him for promoting solutions to help the pet overpopulation crisis.
