Find Out How APNM is Making A Connection with Kids

Animal Protection of New Mexico takes on the hard issues. Its animal cruelty hotlines receive calls about the neglect of companion animals, horses left starving in the countryside, and intentional harm and abuse inflicted on animals. These are not realities we want to expose our children to. But if we are to end the cycle of violence we witness in our communities, we must actively instill a sense of compassion and caring for animals in our young people. APNM has found a way. We call it The Animal Connection. It is a comprehensive humane education program for students in grades Pre-K through 8 (age adapted depending on the grade) that utilizes therapy dog teams to help get the message across.

You can learn more about this unique and effective youth program by opening up the Spring 2015 Edition of the Making Tracks Magazine -- download the free PDF here!

In this edition, you’ll also find useful information about dog behavior and training, see what’s going on around New Mexico in animal protection, and learn about how you can get involved in helping make animals matter in your community.
