Don't reverse landmark humane ordinance

Please use these points as a guide for your letter to the Rio Rancho Mayor and City Council:

Urge them not to reverse their landmark humane ordinance passed last year. Tell them to honor the collaborative public process, and 18 months of work by the Rio Rancho Animal Welfare Task Force that produced that ordinance.

Urge them to refuse to support the cruelty and abuse of puppy and kitten mills that supply pet stores.  Tell them you expect city officials to make informed decisions that affect the community in positive, not negative ways. Tell them to encourage pet stores to adopt humane business models and work with shelters and rescue groups to place homeless animals.

Urge them to refuse to support cruel forms of entertainment by easing provisions for live animal exhibitions. Let them know that all residents of New Mexico deserve better forms of entertainment than cruel and abusive circuses.
