The Cougar Smart New Mexico Program, initiated by Animal Protection of New Mexico (APNM), has developed trailhead posters, informative flyers, and waterproof safety tips tags for kids’ backpacks to help keep people safe when recreating and living in cougar country. The Program is a collaboration among APNM, New Mexico Department of Game and Fish, the US Forest Service, New Mexico State Parks, and Santa Fe County Open Space and Trails.

For more information about this program, please contact APNM's Wildlife Program Manager.
