The Albuquerque Journal reported the city of Albuquerque
turned down Sterling and Reid Bros. Circus's request to rent space
in the city's convention center.
Leonard Garcia, acting director at the Albuquerque
Convention Center, was concerned about Sterling and Reid's history
of violations of the federal Animal Welfare Act.
"It wasn't wise for us to bring that piece
of business to the convention center," he said.
