A WISH LIST FOR THE CHIMPS RESCUED BY SAVE THE CHIMPS
These beautiful and intelligent beings had been held captive for medical research their entire lives, and now that they have been permanently retired, they need many items to ensure their well being and happiness. Please be as generous as possible!
Blankets
The chimps make nests out of these. They need to be light to medium weight
so that they can dry quicklythey are laundered everyday. No thick
or wool blankets, no fitted sheets, and no pillowcases.
Simple Green cleaning solution
This is the preferred cleaning product at the chimp sanctuary.
Toys & Other Enrichments
Little Tyke toys are the best. Toys should be sturdy plastic with no removable
parts; appropriate for a three year old. Any hard plastic plates or dishes
are great too!
Mirrors that do not break
Chewable childrens
vitamins
Liquid Ensure
Hairbrushes & Toothbrushes
Magazines with lots of pictures & childrens
books
Snacks
The chimps eat fruit, vegetables, oatmeal, cornmeal, grits, raisins, cheerios,
and nuts in shells nothing sugary or salty. They really love peanuts
in the shell!
Boxes of all sizes
Toys and treats are wrapped in several boxes, adding even more enrichment to
the item. Really large boxeslike refrigerator boxesare used as
play houses for the chimps. Please break down all boxes before sending.
Enrichment Building Materials
PVC pipe Sections of pipe are fitted with ends and then holes drilled
in them. Treats will be placed inside so that the chimps can shake and roll
the pipe to get the treat out.
Cutting boards or 8" x 12" pieces of wood AND Astroturf
doormats or sections of Astroturf The Astroturf is
fitted to the wood, then peanut butter (with raisins and other
goodies) is smeared on. It is then placed on the side of the
chimps enclosures, where they work to get the entire yummy
snack out!
Money!
The cost to properly
care for the chimpanzees is astronomical, so any tax-deductible
donations are always welcomed.
