Dog Expert Says Key to Understanding Dogs
Is to See World from their Point of View

"Chaining dogs unleashes bad behavior"

Life on the end of a chain is no life for a dog. Animal Protection of New Mexico is working to help dogs who are continuously chained by suggesting alternatives to chaining, including the best option: train the dog.

We were happy to come across a terrific guest article in USA TODAY speaking up against chaining, by dog expert Victoria Stilwell. Stilwell’s article “Chaining dogs unleashes bad behavior” touches on the mistakes that many people make when they keep their dogs confined in a yard, and chained.

For a more in-depth study of the impact of keeping dogs on chains, you’re welcome to download a free copy of “The Public Safety and Humane Implications of Persistently Tethering Domestic Dogs” by APNM in collaboration with the New Mexico Department of Public Safety.
